Filmmakers Win National Telly Award

This summer, a documentary film produced by the our creative team picked up a national Silver Telly Award – the top prize.

Our short film “Melissa” was produced through director Scott Takeda's production company Takeda Entertainment. The film competed in the documentary film category. In this film, Lori Kay Allred followed Stage-4 cancer patient Melissa as she adjusted to life with incurable lung cancer. We captured moments ranging from her preparing Thanksgiving dinner with family to wrestling with the difficult decision to retire.

“The entire team is celebrating,” said Takeda. “We put our hearts and souls in to telling her story. We appreciate the opportunity to show her resilience and human spirit. While we don’t produce our films to win awards, it’s always nice when people independently say we did a good job.”

Since 1988, the Telly Awards reward creative excellence in advertising, television and film.

Filmmaker Wins Two National Awards

The results are just coming in, and so far, our team has won two 2014 national Telly Awards for films produced through director Scott Takeda's company Takeda Entertainment.

“I’m excited because these Tellys reward storytelling that’s more raw and authentic,” said Takeda. “The first award was for a full-blown documentary series we did for Buick GMC where we followed a successful Chicago-area dealership as it attempted to adopt a new, appointment-based selling culture. For this story, we wanted to capture things as they happened. So we showed how the leaders within the dealership struggled with the changes and revealed their fears about if it would work. This was a nine-month labor of love, and I’m grateful the judges found our story compelling.

“The second award was for a new client CHRISTUS Health – a Catholic-based healthcare system based in Texas. They brought us in to capture their leaders during a pilgrimage where their ministry began in central France. We were interested in capturing real moments, and our cinematographers did a great job of documenting their experiences. After combing through hours of footage and thousands of stills, we created a 90-second promo titled ‘Answering the Call.'”

Congratulations to the entire team.
