Day and Page Casting Attached To Feature

Casting directors Arlie Day and Mike Page

We’re excited to announce that Day and Page Casting are attached to help us cast our newest feature film “Remembering Us.” Arlie Day recently cast Oscar-nominated Andrea Riseborough in “To Leslie” which premiered at SXSW. Mike Page was most recently the Director of Casting for HBO-Max.

“We love Arlie and Mike,” said writer/producer Lori Allred. “I love talking to them every time we get on the phone. We were looking for a partner to help us attach names to our film and they immediately jumped aboard after reading the script.”

Arlie and Mike will also be joining as co-producers and will help us attach name actors to the lead roles in the film. They formed Day and Page Casting in early 2020 after working for casting offices including April Webster & Associates, Jeanie Bacharach, Linda Lowy Casting and Jennifer Cooper Casting.

We’re back in production mode again this Spring, this time with a recorded Zoom table read of the feature length script of “Remembering Us.” We were able to bring back the entire cast again and add a whole bunch of new characters — totaling 33 actors from LA and New York as well as production hubs like Utah and New Mexico.

“Getting the original cast together was quite a scheduling challenge,” said Wine Dog producer-director Lori Kay Allred. “Even with COVID, much of our cast are working actors, so it took some luck and maneuvering to find a day where everyone was available. “

“And I’m so excited for all of the new people we’ve added,” said Wine Dog’s Scott Takeda. “With the short, we had to limit the story, but now with the feature, we could add backstory and different storylines. Lori and I took a lot of time to find the right people to cast in these new roles, and we’re so excited to see how they’ve brought the story to life.

“Now it’s time to start shopping this project.”

Speaking of working actors, check out CBS in April for Nev Scharrel’s recurring work on the legal procedural “All Rise.” She guest stars as Nikki Gessner in a three episode arc starting Monday April 12th.

We’re excited for long time Wine Dog actor Mike Ostroski who is on-location for a guest starring role on an undisclosed series. Details to follow when it’s ready to air.

Similarly, Scott Takeda is now recurring on the Disney+ series "High School Musical.” His two episode run airs in July.

Wine Dog Pictures is proud to announce that we’ve secured North American distribution for our short film “The Outsider” through Shorts.TV. The film will begin a three-year rotation on the network beginning December 29.

“Wow, oh wow,” exclaimed Wine Dog Pictures producer Lori Kay Allred. “We are so excited to partner with Shorts.TV again. They’ve distributed two other films, and it was so nice to get that kind of national and international exposure. We can’t wait for their viewers to see this latest one about the fundamental human need to belong, especially in family situations. This film is personal because it tells my story of meeting my husband’s extended family for the first time. “

Based in London and LA, Shorts.TV is the official home of all Oscar-nominated short films and other acclaimed short films including the 2015 Wine Dog film “If Not Now” and the 2016 Wine Dog film “The Decision.”

We’re very excited to announce the World Premiere of “Remembering Us” will be at the 40th Annual Breckenridge Film Festival. The festival that brought the world “Shawshank Redemption” and “L.A. Confidential” will now premiere our latest film about a family dealing with a traumatic brain injury and the decision to turn to medical cannabis to treat the symptoms.

“We are so thrilled that Wine Dog Pictures is giving us the opportunity to showcase this powerful film,” said programming director Dianna Nilsson. “We were immediately taken by the original story, the powerful performances and the poignant filmmaking. We know our fans will love watching this film.”

Breck Film will be a hybrid festival this fall with half of the screenings at a drive-in and the other half online, starting October 3. USA Today consistently rates it as one of the Top 20 North American Festivals.

In other news, ProductionHUB, featured fellow contributor Brian De Herrera-Schnering of Pinto Pictures in their mid summer blog. Brian talked to Alicia East about tips and tricks for the COVID-era colorist.

Be sure to tune into Nickelodeon on August 15 to see frequent Wine Dog actor Mike Ostroski appearing in yet another COVID-era Zoom episode of “Danger Force.” Mike previously filmed a quarantine episode this Spring, playing the fan-favorite, super villain Dr. Minyak.

And Wine Dog’s Scott Takeda is donning the judge’s robe again to shoot additional episodes of ABC’s “General Hospital.” Back in March, Takeda was in the middle of shooting a seven-episode arc when ABC/Disney shut down the studio because LA enforced stay-at-home orders. The show has been in reruns since May, but with relaxed restrictions, filming is back on. Takeda recurs on the show as Judge Richard Lowe.
